USDT networks: TRC-20, BEP-20 and ERC-20 in comparison

The network is the most common source of error when selling USDT – whether you are selling in Lisbon, Warsaw, or Oslo. An incorrectly chosen network can cost money or make the transfer untraceable.

01

TRC-20 (TRON)

Addresses start with 'T'. Transfers are usually fast and comparatively cheap; the fee is incurred in TRX or via energy. That is why TRC-20 is widely used for USDT.

02

BEP-20 (BNB Smart Chain)

Addresses start with "0x" and look the same as Ethereum addresses. Fees are paid in BNB and are usually low.

03

ERC-20 (Ethereum)

Also "0x" addresses. Fees in ETH depend on network load and can be significantly higher. For larger amounts, ERC-20 is still often used because many exchanges support it.

How to avoid mistakes

Because BEP-20 and ERC-20 have identical-looking addresses, a glance at the address is not enough. This applies to online orders as well as cash appointments.

  • Select the network in the wallet exactly as in the order
  • Copy address or use QR code, never type it out
  • Compare the first and last characters of the address
  • Plan for extra fee so the full amount arrives
